The Commander of ZAFT's African forces.
Known as the "Desert Tiger," he is a capable ground forces Commander and a veteran ace Mobile Suit pilot.
He's generally friendly and down-to-earth, and can be very finicky about his coffee. His paramour Aisha calls him "Andy."
His Waldfeld Team was dispatched to pursue the Archangel after it descended to Earth. He and Aisha challenged Kira Yamato to a duel in their LaGOWE. When Kira awakened, Waldfeld was soundly defeated and went missing.
He was assumed to be KIA, but survived with grave wounds and eventually made a comeback.
Patrick Zala held his record in high esteem and made him the captain of the newly-built Eternal.
However, he was part of the peace-promoting Clyne faction.
He bided his time, then stole the Eternal and met up with the Archangel and the Kusanagi, whose crews shared those same ideals.
