While returning from a colony's agricultural block on Haunzen Flight 356, he encounters hijackers claiming to be Mafty, but manages to repel them with the physical prowess from his military training, which earns him the praise of many cabinet members. However, Hathaway is in fact Mafty Navue Erin, leader of the anti-Earth Federation movement Mafty, which intends to assassinate those very same cabinet members.
