A test pilot assigned to the Federation Forces' Torrington base after graduating from the Nijmegen Military Academy.
When the Torrington base was attacked by the Delaz Fleet, he climbed aboard the Gundam GP01 to retrieve the stolen Gundam GP02, and thus became a Gundam pilot.
He loves MS, and this shaped his decision to become a MS pilot.
He has a full understanding of the mecha he pilots, making him the perfect pilot for a prototype machine as special as the Gundam.
He has a laid back personality, is timid around women, and has a childish dislike of carrots. But he also has quick judgment, good observational skills, and skill at accurately predicting the future.
Although at first he was immature both in mind and technique, he gradually overcame this through experiencing the deaths of comrades, meeting new people, and fighting.
