A novice pilot who is assigned to the Armored Assault Force's Cyclops Team. He goes by the nickname "Bernie." He joins the reconnaissance of the neutral Side 6 colony Libot, but crash-lands in his first mission. Here he meets young Alfred Izuruha, or "Al," and exchanges his military insignia for a disk that depicts the container carrying the new Gundam. After he returns to Zeon's Granada base, he is assigned to the Cyclops Team and participates in Operation Rubicon, a plan to steal or destroy the new Gundam. He returns to the Libot colony and encounters Al again, and because he is a kind young man, the two become friends.
